#thelightin is an ongoing open project, first conceived alongside my friend and colleague Alejandro Fajardo. Our eyes and cameras have naturally gravitated toward the interplay of light and shadow— at home, around the city, and during our travels. With the onslaught of social media, adopting a hashtag was a simple way to collate and share.
“A passionate equivalence: attention to the incidental, the peripheral, everything that was beside the point.”
- Lawrence Weschler on Robert Irwin’s work
#thelightinnewyork, is just that— a celebration of the way we can see and interact with light and shadow on a daily basis, wherever we might be. So many folks share this affinity. We encourage anyone and everyone to use and adapt the hashtag. Simply identify your location as a suffix to the hashtag - THELIGHTIN.
While this practice is a personal one, we hope this ongoing digital collection might celebrate and unlock our listening and sensitivity; our observational selves.
